People at Laughlin Air Force Base was placed in lockdown earlier this morning, around 8:24 a.m.
About 30 minutes later, base officials released the following press release.
At approximately 8:24 a.m. Laughlin Command Post was notified by Security Forces that there was an installation breach by one individual near the West gate visitor control center. The base was immediately put on lockdown to ensure the safety of base personnel.
The individual exited the base around 8:32 a.m. and was further pursued by local authorities. The base is secure. For further questions please contact 47th Flying Training Wing public affairs at 830-298-5262.
The previous chase through the base occurred May 23 and the release is below.
t approximately 3:48 a.m. CST on May 23, 2024, Laughlin AFB was notified of the pursuit of a person by the U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) adjacent to the installation North gate who jumped the installation perimeter fence, entering Laughlin AFB.
The person was tracked by USBP canine teams on base and was successfully apprehended by USBP at 4:57 a.m. CST.
A cordon was established adjacent to base housing to ensure the safety of base residents during the incident.
According to base officials, this is the third time this year someone has breached the base during a chase.
