A Youtube fishing show visited Amistad National Recreation Area’s Lake Amistad and called it, “The best bass lake in the world” has more than 1 million views.
Jon B., a young Youtube fisherman who travels the world fishing, has posted nearly 90 minutes of videos about his recent visit to Lake Amistad.
The video comes across like it was written by the Del Rio Convention and Visitors Bureau, however, it’s all Jon B. as he pours praise on Lake Amistad.
He first learned about Lake Amistad on a fishing video game when he was a child.
Plenty of praise
“This is a dream come true,” he said, as he cast. “This is an oasis in the middle of the desert.” He caught a 4 pounder on his first cast and he went on to catch 4 more multiple pound fish in the first 8 minutes.
— “This lake is full of fish,” Jon B said as he reeled in his fifth fish in less than half of an hour.
— “Lake Amistad is pretty overwhelming,” he said, after hooking bass 17.
— “It’s a gift and pleasure to come to amazing places like this,” he said.
— “If you have never been here before. Put this place on your list,” he advised viewers.
At one point, he used a drone to find grassy areas of the lake and to film his boat. It was very visually effective and he did find the grassy area and the fish hiding there. However, this is illegal on Lake Amistad and the National Park service can penalize you.
However, it’s a video that is chock full of tips and is practically a travel video promoting Lake Amistad and Del Rio. At one point, he even discusses why Amistad is safer than Lake Falcon.
Be forewarned, he has sponsors and he does several informal “commercials” with their products. But hey, we all have to pay the bills, right!
