Country music singer and songwriter William Beckmann, is dropping his next single Saturday, August 8 and he’s hoping it will lift people up during the pandemic.
“I didn’t write it for the pandemic, I didn’t mention anything about the pandemic,” Beckmann said. “However, I feel like it’s relevant to what’s going on right now.”
The 24-year-old Beckmann, who writes for Warner Chappelle Records, hopes that it has the effect on listeners it had for him writing it.
“It was very cathartic and therapeutic to write and I hope it has that effect on people and that’s why I’m releasing it right now,” he said.
The song is named Someday, “I wrote it in May shortly after John Prine passed away,” Beckmann said. Prine died at 73-years-old and is considered one of the top songwriters of his generation.
“The song itself sounds like something he’d come up with, it’s simple with a guitar melody.” I think I was thinking of him when I wrote the song. It’s supposed to be a very positive, inspirational song for everyone dealing with the current crisis and all of the difficult things that have come up with. I just wanted to bring a little light to everyone’s world.
The fact the song received support from two of Texas’s top songwriters encouraged him to release it.
“That song is really special,” Del Rio native Radney Foster told him. Foster has a pretty solid songwriting record. He has had thirteen songs on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts, including the Top Ten hits “Just Call me Lonesome and “Nobody Wins”. His songs have been recorded by Gary Allan, Sara Evans, Keith Urban, Hootie and the Blowfish and Jack Ingram.
Texas icon Randy Rogers just thanked Beckmann for writing it. “Thank you, I really needed to hear this,” said Rogers.
Rogers liked it so much he produced it and sang harmony on the album. He also manages Beckmann.
“I got two thumbs up from them and that was good enough for me,” Beckmann laughed.
The song drops Saturday and people can listen on Spotify. If someone wants to purchase it, it’s available on all platforms that sell music.
For those in Del Rio that have known Hyslop, he’s got one piece of advice for them when they’re trying to find his music. “Remember, it’s William Beckmann with two N’s.

Beckmann will also play the song at 8 a.m. Wednesday Aug. 12 on KDLK’s Jay in the Morning.
