helping raise money for scholarships.

The event, sponsored by Del Rio’s Rotary club and produced by Fredericksburg’s Lester Meier rodeo company, supports Rotary’s efforts in the local community.

It’s a family-oriented event that has children riding sheep and racing stick horses, while the real cowboys and cowgirls ride broncs and bulls and compete in barrel racing.

“We really try to keep this event at a price point people can bring their families out and enjoy it,” said Mike Coplan, Rotary president.

Tickets were $5 and the most expensive item on the menu was the hamburger at $5.

Plus, the proceeds benefit the club’s charitable efforts, specifically the scholarship program that helped 31 students start their education this past year.
