The Val Verde County Courthouse is hosting a Halloween Maze on Friday outside the county courthouse.
Val Verde County’s Halloween Maze Fright Night is a free event held at 400 Pecan St. from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Oct. 25. Pecan Street will be closed and vendors and food trucks will fill up the area.
The event is organized by county staff. Juanita Barrera, human resources director at Val Verde County, said they have hosted the event for four years.
County employees assisting with the event will be dressed up in costume and hand out candy.
The event’s main attraction is the Halloween maze, which will be set up on the lawn outside courthouse on Pecan Street. Del Rio High School students will be volunteering in the maze, and Barrera said there will be various Halloween characters and decorations, including Leatherface from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie.
Several companies and organizations will be helping at the event, including H-E-B and the Del Rio Amistad Lions Club.
Besides the maze, other games will be available, like a bean-bag toss. Barrera said they will have props and decorations around the area for people to take pictures with.
