Payless Liquors, 1400 Veterans Blvd., provides customers with a large variety of beers, wines,
liquors and cigars.
Teresa Lowe, co-owner of Payless Liquors, spoke with The 830 Times and talked about the
history of her business. Lowe said she and her husband, Frank
Lowe, bought the business in
2007 from its previous owner.
Teresa and Frank bought the business when it was located at 2010 Veterans Blvd. Teresa said
they operated the business for seven years before moving to a new site at 1805 Veterans Blvd.
Currently, Payless Liquors is located at 1400 Veterans Blvd., where it opened its doors Oct. 1, 2024.
Teresa said the reason they moved to a new location in 2024 was because of the increase in
their liquor and wine selection, which outgrew the indoor space at the previous property. With the new facility, they went from 2,200 square feet to more than 5,000. She
said the decision to relocate to a new area was a “good move” for their business.
“We have a huge selection now that we have moved. Each time we have moved it has gotten
bigger, but (the current selection) is the biggest we have yet,” Lowe said.
Along with their alcohol products, Payless Liquors sells cigars, offering customers a walk-in
humidor. Teresa said their humidor had also increased in size since moving to their new
location.
Teresa mentioned they have the best customer service, and she received comments from
people saying Payless Liquors has made a huge difference in Del Rio’s liquor industry.
Payless Liquors is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
