NEWS — Woman arrested for burglary of 81-year-old’s home

On March 8th, 2025, at approximately 11:29 a.m. the Del Rio Police Department responded to the 100 block of Plaza Avenue in reference to an unwanted female.

The caller being an 81-year-old female told police; she was inside her home when she saw a female walking on the side of her home. The caller confronted the female trespasser and asked her to leave her property as she had no permission to be there.

The female suspect allegedly entered a storage room that is attached to the main residence and removed several drinks from a refrigerator prior to leaving.

The caller told police the female suspect has entered her home in the past without consent due to being a resident from the area and normally roams the streets.

Police located the female suspect at the Joe Ramos Center and detained her for further investigation. A search of the female’s property revealed the cold beverages described by the homeowner.

The beverages were returned to the rightful owner and the female suspect identified as Jessica Meza; 32 yrs. of age was arrested for the offense of Burglary of a Habitation.

Meza was transported to the police station for processing, she was later released to the custody of GEO Correctional Facility
