City of Del Rio Police Department press release
On April 15th, 2025, at approximately 6:15 p.m. the Del Rio Police Department responded to the 100 block of East Garfield Street for a burglary in progress.
The caller reported a male subject was attempting to gain entry
into the building by using an axe.
Upon arrival police located a male subject matching the description provided by the caller still at the scene. The male subject had a pickaxe with him and told police he intentionally caused the damage to the building because he wished to be arrested.
Police contacted the property owner who estimated the damage caused to the building at $10,000.00 US dollars.
The subject identified as Roberto Estrada; 41 yrs. of age was arrested and charged with the offense of Criminal Mischief > $2,500 < $30,000.
Estrada was transported to the police station where he was processed for the offense and was later released to the custody of GEO Correctional Facility, pending magistration process.
