The annual Sacred Heart Spring Festival takes place on Sunday at Sacred Heart Church, located at 307 E Losoya St., beginning at noon after the 11 a.m. Mass.

The event is put together by Sacred Heart Church and Sacred Heart Catholic School (SHCS), and all proceeds go towards helping the church and the school.

Alma Soto, event organizer, said this year’s event will have breakfast during the start of the festivities inside the school’s gym. The festival will have more food throughout the day, including gorditas, Filipino food and various tacos. Food is being provided by both the SHCS and several food trucks attending.

The festival will have loteria (Mexican card game) sessions in the morning and afternoon, and Soto said lots of people enjoy the games and sign up fast. Other games and activities that will be provided include the duck-pond fishing game, basketball toss, corn hole games, a kid’s train, castle bounces, a mechanical bull, crafting tables and both the cake and plant walk.

The festival will have a free live auction and a silent auction for donated items and other prizes, including furniture, unique customized items, gift cards and giveaways for family-oriented events such as trip to Sea World. A raffle will also be held on Sunday for prizes varying up to $5,000.

She said there will be seating and live music by local talents, including Family Jewelz and Madison Hailey. Students from SHCS’s music group will have the “march into the festival” opening event, which takes place after the 11 a.m. Mass, and Soto said people will see the talent of the SHCS students.
