COMSTOCK, Texas — The Comstock Rodeo Club celebrated its 61st Annual Youth Rodeo Saturday morning as young competitors across six divisions and dozens of events battled for buckles and saddles.
In the Little Britches (6 and under) division, Brooke Villanueva swept the pole bending and barrel racing events, earning buckles donated by Quick Stop and J & P, both of Comstock. Slayton

Gould won ribbon pulling, sponsored by Kelly and Susan Goble of Langtry. Caroline Horton took top honors in mutton busting and the boot scramble, with buckles donated by Thompson Tire (in memory of Danny Thompson Jr.) and Foster Ranch of Langtry, respectively.
The 12 and under girls division was dominated by Bryka Dennis, who won pole bending (Ozona National Bank), barrel racing (The Bank & Trust of Del Rio), flag race (Wanda Wallace of Comstock), and goat tying (Consuelo Ranch of Sonora) securing a clean sweep.
In the 12 and under boys bracket, Wade Ivey claimed first in pole bending (Robertson Ranch, in memory of Bob and Johnnie Robertson of Comstock), while Tye Dennis captured barrel racing (Sam and Mary Fritz, in memory of Dolan Le Dobbins of Comstock), goat tying (Royal Metal Building Component of Del Rio), breakaway roping (Pico Petroleum & Butane, Del Rio), and tie-down roping (Hardscrabble Ranch, Del Rio). Jorge Soto and Jade Heritage also earned podium finishes in several events.
13–15 girls saw Kaylin Heritage of Del Rio earn buckles in pole bending (Miguel Castellano Family, Del Rio), barrel racing (Royal Metal Building Component), goat tying (Del Rio Feed & Supply), and breakaway roping (NAPA, Del Rio). Laci Allen placed second in barrels.
Among 13–15 boys, Ryker Dean and Weston Ivey traded wins. Dean earned buckles in goat tying (Zuberbueler Family, Comstock) and ribbon roping (Robertson Ranch, in memory of Bob and Johnnie Robertson). Ivey took home top honors in breakaway roping (Del Rio Feed & Supply) and tie-down roping (Pico Petroleum & Butane), also finishing second in ribbon roping.
In the 16–19 girls group, Sage Everett won three events—pole bending (Rick and Mary Rylander, Comstock), barrel racing (John and Katelyn Hurta, Del Rio) and goat tying (Billy and Cindy McKaskle, Del Rio).
For 16–19 boys, Wyatt Ivey swept all three events—breakaway roping (Subway, Ozona), ribbon roping (J & P, Comstock), and goat roping (Comstock Motel and Alton Everett, Comstock).
The event’s top all-around honors went to Bryka Dennis of Del Rio, who was awarded the Hi-Point Girl Tod Slone Custom Saddle, donated by Tuffy Whitehead and Justin and Ginger Burk of Del Rio. Weston Ivey of Imperial received the Hi-Point Boy Tod Slone Custom Saddle, sponsored by Cauthorn, Griffin, and Leonard Insurance of Sonora.
