City Hall has been shut down to public access since Jan. 4 and will remain closed until further notice, city officials said Thursday.
The closure was announced on the city’s Facebook page earlier this month, and a notice was posted on the city’s web site.
The notice reads the main City Hall building, 109 W. Broadway St., and the City Hall Annex/Development Services building, 114 W. Martin St., will be closed until further notice.
“For the health, safety and well-being of our customers, employees and the community, City Hall and the Annex Building/Development Services will be closed to the public beginning Monday, Jan. 4, until further notice,” the notice begins.
“The City of Del Rio continues to provide all essential services such as water and sewer services, solid waste collections, public safety, etc. In addition, we promote the safety and health of our employees and those we serve. Limiting access to facilities is one measure we have implemented at times depending on COVID numbers and guidance and recommendations from our Local Health Authority. We look forward to serving the public safely again in person,” City Manager Matt Wojnowski said in a prepared statement about the ongoing closure Thursday.
City Public Relations Manager Anita Pruneda confirmed the closure was deemed necessary because of the spike in local COVID-19 cases in January.
The posted notice reminds Del Rioans the city’s customer service functions are still available by phone or via email. The drive-through at City Hall is also open.
The notice reads, “Utility billing and municipal court payments can still be made over the phone or online.”
For utility billing payments, call 866-299-3771, and for municipal court payments, call 866-282-1248.
“Payments can be made online at the City of Del Rio web site. Additional resources are also available online at cityofdelrio.com,” the city’s notice reads.
