NEWS — Del Rio couple killed in New Mexico

Lea County Sheriff’s Office Investigates Fatal Shooting in Jal
JAL, NM-December 11, 2025- On Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at approximately 5:56 a.m., Lea County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the Merryman RV Park at 3469 M Hwy 18 following reports of three unresponsive individuals.
Upon arrival, Jal Police and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) found a male and a female victim, both with fatal gunshot wounds. A second male was at the scene with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
First responders attempted life-saving measures on the second male before transporting him to a hospital in Kermit, Texas, where he was later pronounced dead.
The Lea County Sheriff’s Office has identified the deceased as follows:
• Victim: Álvaro Garza García, 20, of Del Rio, TX
• Victim: Andrea Rodriguez, 22, of Del Rio, TX
• Suspect: Juan Morales, 27, of El Paso, TX
The Lea County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division is leading the investigation. At this time, investigators believe this to be an isolated incident. There are no outstanding suspects, and there is no ongoing threat to the community.
The investigation remains ongoing, and no further information is available.
