City of Del Rio Police Department press release —
On 12/30/25 at approximately 6:13 a.m., the Del Rio Police Department received a call for service regarding a welfare concern in reference to a male subject reported to be possibly asleep on the ground in a public area.
Upon arrival, officers found the male unresponsive. A civilian registered nurse who had stopped to assist began CPR prior to police arrival. Officers took over life-saving measures until Del Rio Fire and EMS arrived and assumed medical care.
Review of surveillance video from a nearby business showed the
male collapsing at approximately 5:07 a.m. Co-workers from deceased later arrived on scene and advised that the male routinely walked around the parking lot prior to reporting to work.
Officers canvassed the area and found no signs of foul play.
Justice of the Peace Lopez responded to the scene and officially pronounced the individual deceased.
This incident is being investigated as a medical event, and no criminal activity is suspected at this time.
