Many in the community are mourning Amistad Funeral Home, which announced its closing Jan. 31 after three years in business here.
The mortuary was located at 114 Fletcher Drive and was owned and operated by longtime Del Rio residents Daniel Musquiz and Loida S. Arellano, both experienced funeral directors who partnered to run the business after years in the industry.
The closure announcement appeared on the funeral home’s Facebook page Feb. 1 at 6:56 p.m.:
Friends and Family, Amistad Funeral Home has made the difficult decision to close its doors effective January 31, 2026.
We are beyond grateful for the opportunity that God granted us these past three years serving our community.
To every family we served, thank you for your support and for placing your trust in us in caring for your loved one.
To our staff, who always went above and beyond, thank you for walking side by side with us through this journey.
It has been a complete honor to serve you, Del Rio.
Our phone lines will continue to be open for one month.

Trinity Mortuary is located at 206 Kings Way.
Following the closure of Amistad Funeral Home, Del Rio will continue to be served by other funeral service providers in the area, including Sunset Funeral Home, located at 2020 N. Bedell Ave., which also operates a location in New Braunfels.
