Customs and Border Protection/Department of Homeland Security, 35 years. Supervisor of armed officers, 21 years. Managed budgets to reimburse local law enforcement whom I scheduled and supervised in operations. Performed audits. Certified by DOS Expert Spanish translation and interpretation. Subject Matter Expert from District to Headquarters writing manuals. World traveler. Volunteer Big
Bend National Park, two seasons. Taught civics and English to persons aspiring to USA citizenship. County Clerk, 3 years. Earliest end of night election reports! Cleared backlogs! Team builder.
Question #2: What is your vision for this office for the next four years?
My vision for my office is more cross training of the Clerks. I want for my Commissioners Court minutes to be filed and indexed promptly. Presently, we have cleared backlogged minutes. We still need to catch up to the point where all minutes are recorded and indexed upon approval by Commissioners Court. There are official public records I want to see digitized. I want to keep up the criminal justice records ensuring compliance with Governor Greg Abbott’s Executive Orders. This will ensure Val Verde County always qualifies for state grants. I want for the Val Verde County Clerk’s Office to continue to be recognized for excellence in service and courtesy to all! I want to retire from my position as County Clerk with the knowledge and satisfaction that my successor walks into a well-run and updated office. I still have work to accomplish to ensure a smooth transition.
