News — Arrest Following Domestic Disturbance and Barricade Incident

City of Del Rio Police Department press release

On February 11, 2026, at approximately 3:23 a.m., officers with the Del Rio Police Department responded to the 400 block of Far Hills Drive in reference to a reported disturbance involving an assault.

Upon arrival, officers made contact with a female victim outside the residence. The victim displayed visible injuries to her face, including bumps, bruises, and cuts that appeared recent. The suspect, identified as Guadalupe Buenrostro Jr., was reported to still be inside the residence. Officers were also informed that firearms were located inside the bedroom where the suspect had barricaded himself.

Officers entered the residence and conducted a safety sweep, locating the suspect inside a locked bedroom. Officers announced their presence and instructed Buenrostro to exit the room. He initially refused multiple commands to come out and did not comply with requests to speak with officers. Due to the report of firearms inside the room and his refusal to exit, officers treated the situation as a barricaded subject and requested additional units for assistance.

After approximately 30 minutes, Buenrostro exited the bedroom with his hands raised. He initially refused commands to turn around and place his hands behind his back but was safely taken into custody without further incident.

Buenrostro was transported to the Del Rio Police Department for processing and was later remanded to the custody of the GEO Detention Facility pending magistration.
