Val Verde County voters cast about 920 early ballots during the first two days of early voting, covering Feb. 17–18 in the March 3, 2026 primary elections.
Local turnout included roughly 520 Republican Party primary voters and 400 Democratic Party primary voters.
All numbers are from the Texas Secretary of State’s site, and the Val Verde County Clerk’s Office contributed the information to the site. All numbers are unofficial at this time.
Val Verde County has a population of about 48,000 residents and just over 30,000 registered voters.
Early voting began Monday across Texas and continues through Feb. 27.
Statewide, counties reported about 243,000 total early votes through Wednesday evening.
That figure includes approximately 134,000 ballots in the Republican primary and 109,000 in the Democratic primary.
The early days of voting typically draw the most consistent voters before participation increases closer to Election Day.
Texas has about 18.7 million registered voters eligible to participate in the primary elections.
All early voting by personal appearance for both primary elections is at the Del Rio Civic Center, 1915 Veterans Blvd.
Friday, Feb. 27, is the last day to vote early in both primary elections. Val Verde County voters who don’t cast an early ballot will have one more chance to vote on Election Day, Tuesday, March 3.
The dates and times for early voting in person are as follows:
• Today – Friday, Feb. 17–20: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Saturday, Feb. 21: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
• Sunday, Feb. 22: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
• Monday – Friday, Feb. 23–27: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Persons who wish to cast an early ballot in person must have one of the following acceptable forms of photo identification:
• Texas driver license issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety
• Texas election identification certificate issued by DPS
• Texas personal identification card issued by DPS
• Texas handgun license issued by DPS
• United States military identification card containing the person’s photograph
• United States citizenship certificate containing the person’s photograph
• United States passport (book or card)
Voters who wish to cast ballots in the March 3 joint primary election must decide whether they want to vote in the Republican Party primary election or the Democratic Party primary election. In this election, Democratic and Republican candidates are on separate ballots.
Election Day for the primary elections is March 3.
