DEVELOPING STORY — Officer shot in Del Rio Sunday morning

A City of Del Rio police officer was shot in the leg at about 7:30 a.m. Sunday, according to police scanner and on-scene reports.

The shooting occurred in the 900 block of East 10th Street.

At about 7:35 a.m., a voice was heard saying, “I’ve been shot, I’ve been shot,” over the scanner. This recording was not recorded, but was reported to The 830 Times by an individual monitoring scanner traffic.

A few minutes later, another voice came over the scanner and confirmed, “An officer has been shot.” This interaction was recorded and forwarded to The 830 Times.

Shortly after, a voice reported the suspect had dropped a gun out of a window. Minutes later, officers confirmed the suspect was in custody.

The injured officer was transported to Val Verde Regional Medical Center.

By about 8:15 a.m., multiple agencies were on scene assisting, including the Texas Department of Public Safety, U.S. Marshals Service and the Val Verde County Sheriff’s Office, supporting the Del Rio Police Department.
