Candidate Profile — Bryan Weston

Question 1: What in your experience, personal and professional, qualifies to serve the community in this position?

“I have a variety of both personal and professional experiences that qualify me to serve as a SFDRCISD Trustee. I am a 1994 graduate of Del Rio High School and a 1999 graduate of Rice University. I come from a family of teachers. My wife, mother and sister either have been or are current educators in Del Rio. I have a daughter at Garfield Middle School, a son at DRHS and another daughter at Texas A&M who graduated from DRHS.

“I have served on the Board of Adjustment for the City of Del Rio, the Del Rio Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, and the Board of Directors for Del Rio National Bank and Texas Community Bank. Up until December of 2025 and for the previous 15 years, I have been part of the ownership and management of a locally owned commercial construction company that has worked on construction projects for multiple school districts across Texas, including SFDRCISD.

“This combination of experience in the Del Rio school system, working in a Board setting, analyzing complex budgets and personnel issues, and managing large scale school construction projects, gives me a unique set of skills to contribute to the SFDRCISD Board of Trustees.”

Question 2: What do you believe is the most important work of the SFDR-CISD Board of Trustees over the next few years, and how will you contribute to making that happen?

“While all of the work performed by the Board of Trustees is important, there are several areas that need the most focus at this time. Maintaining the current balanced budget will be one of the most important goals for the next few years. I also recognize that athletics, fine arts, and all extracurricular activities are an essential part of the education process and should be an important part of the budget.

“Next, we should also continue to improve infrastructure and facilities within that budget. Finally, one of the challenges we will face will be working with administration to retain highly qualified teachers as well as attract new teachers to the District and Del Rio. My combination of experience is well suited to contribute to all of these important areas.”
