Question 1: What in your experience, personal and professional, qualifies to serve the community in this position?
“The role of a school board member has many facets. As a lifelong resident of Del Rio, a parent with children in our schools, and a taxpayer, I
understand the needs of each facet.
“Professionally, I bring over 21 years of federal service in law enforcement, where I developed strong leadership, accountability, and sound decision-making skills in high-pressure environments. That experience taught me the importance of integrity, teamwork, and responsible use of public resources. Values that directly apply to serving our schools and community.
“In addition, my recent work in city government as a Recreation Supervisor, allowed me to manage budgets, oversee staff, maintain facilities, and work directly with families and youth programs. I’ve built strong relationships across our community and understand how to bring people together to solve problems and create opportunities for our kids.
“Personally, I am deeply invested in the success of our district. As a parent, I share the same expectations as every family such as safe schools, strong academics, and real opportunities for our children to grow and succeed.
“I am committed to leading with a frontline approach – visible, accessible, and engaged. I’m ready to listen, communicate, and make decisions that put students and teachers first.”
Question 2: What do you believe is the most important work of the SFDR-CISD Board of Trustees over the next few years, and how will you contribute to making that happen?
“The most important work of the SFDR-CISD Board of Trustees over the next few years is to stay accessible, listen to families, and remain open to our community. We must make student- and teacher-centered decisions, strengthen curriculum alignment and professional development, and ensure transparent, responsible spending that builds and improves our district’s infrastructure.
“All how it is presented in my vision for the future of our district.
“The Parent Plan—listening and staying accessible to families.
“The Student Priority Plan—keeping students at the center of every decision.
“The Unified Staff & Curriculum Support Plan—providing consistent curriculum and instruction with unified support for our educators.
“The Taxpayer Plan—ensuring transparency and responsible spending.
“The Proactive District Infrastructure Plan—planning for future enrollment and growth, maintaining and upgrading our schools proactively, and securing funding for new campuses.
“I will contribute by leading with a frontline approach being accessible and actively engaged with parents, teachers, and staff. As a parent with children in our schools, a taxpayer, and a lifelong public servant, I understand the responsibility of this role because I live it every day. I will make informed decisions based on real communication and feedback, always keeping students at the center and working to build trust through transparency, accountability, and consistent action.”
