Scholarship season is here and the first organization or company to kick it off was a local finance company.
On April 24, 2026, Money Link Financial Services Inc. and Money Concepts Wealth Management & Financial Planning held their annual scholarship ceremony along with a re-grand opening at their location at 100 Center Drive in Del Rio.
The financial planning firm highlighted the importance of investing in local students continuing their education while also celebrating the company’s growth and commitment to serving the community, company spokesperson Mario Rodriguez said.
Receiving scholarships were Del Rio High School seniors Mia Hernandez, Mia Ortiz, Sofia Castillo Xiquin and Carolina Lopez.
Chief Executive Officer Gilbert Mercado said four scholarships were awarded this year, with plans to increase that number to five scholarships in 2027.
The scholarships are presented in memory of the parents of Mercado and Chief Financial Officer Diana Barrientos Lopez.
The ceremony also gave community members an opportunity to tour the updated office and visit with staff during the re-grand opening celebration.
