On paper, it’s called Easy Mart and Gas. To most Del Rio residents, it’s better known as “the Texaco as you come into Del Rio by the cemetery.”
Now it may be known for something else: selling a $1 million winning scratch ticket.
According to records from the Texas Lottery Commission, a $1 million top prize in the Queen of Spades scratch ticket game was claimed June 15 after the winning ticket was purchased at Easy Mart and Gas, 101 Charles Drive, in Del Rio.
Lottery records show the claim has been fully processed through a Texas Lottery claim center, making the Del Rio ticket the first of four top prizes worth $1 million available in the game to be claimed.
The Queen of Spades game is a $20 scratch ticket that offers more than $91 million in total prizes statewide.
The winner elected to remain anonymous, a common practice among major Texas Lottery winners.
Under the Texas Lottery Retailer Bonus Program, the store that sold the winning ticket may be eligible for a $10,000 bonus.
As for the lucky winner, one thing is certain: somebody who stopped by the Texaco by the cemetery is a millionaire today.
Now, we can all start trying to figure out who it is.
