A Flood Advisory remains in effect for portions of northeastern Val Verde County until 10:15 a.m. after heavy thunderstorms dropped up to 2 inches of rain across the area.
Additional rainfall of up to 1 inch is possible, with minor flooding expected in low-lying areas, arroyos and low-water crossings near Comstock, Juno and Seminole Canyon State Park.
Motorists are urged to avoid flooded roadways and use caution, as water levels can rise rapidly even in areas not receiving rainfall.
By noon, however, we’ll be rid of the rain and headed for a Heat Advisory. The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for much of South Central Texas from noon until 8 p.m., with heat index values expected to range from 108 to 112 degrees.
Residents are encouraged to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day and check on elderly neighbors, children and pets.
