Press release from the Del Rio Police Department
On September 5, 2026, at approximately 9:39 p.m., a Del Rio Police Department officer was patrolling the area of Kingsway near Vista Park Drive when he observed a vehicle traveling at an unsafe speed.

The officer activated the patrol unit’s emergency equipment and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The driver failed to stop and accelerated, rapidly increasing the distance between the vehicle and the patrol unit.
As the officer approached the 700 block of Kingsway, he observed a cloud of dust near Kingsway and Oak Hollow. Upon arriving in the area, the officer discovered that the vehicle had crashed and was unoccupied.
A male subject subsequently emerged from a nearby brush area and informed officers that other occupants of the vehicle had fled on foot following the crash.
A short time later, police received a call from the 300 block of Enchanted Way regarding a male subject who was reportedly involved in a vehicle crash. Officers responded and made contact with the individual, who identified himself as the driver of the crashed vehicle.
The driver was identified as Bernaldo Alexis Rodriguez, 21. Rodriguez was taken into custody and charged with Evading Arrest or Detention with a Vehicle.
Rodriguez was transported to the Del Rio Police Department and later released to the custody of the GEO Correctional Facility pending the magistration process.
