Press release from the Del Rio Police Department
On September 25, 2026, at approximately 5:16 a.m., officers with the Del Rio Police Department responded to the 200 block of Linda Vista Drive regarding a report of an unwanted male.
Upon arrival, officers contacted Marco Antonio Rivera, 52, who was standing near a pickup truck.
While speaking with Rivera, an officer observed a plastic baggie partially tucked inside Rivera’s left boot. When questioned about the baggie, Rivera became uncooperative and refused to comply with verbal commands.
As the officer attempted to detain Rivera to continue the investigation, Rivera physically resisted. Officers were able to gain control of Rivera and place him under arrest for Resisting Arrest, Search, or Transport.
During a subsequent search of Rivera, officers recovered the plastic baggie and discovered substances suspected to be illegal narcotics.
At the Del Rio Police Department, the substances were tested. One yielded a positive result for methamphetamine, while a second substance yielded a positive result for cocaine.
Rivera was arrested and charged with Resisting Arrest, Search, or Transport and Possession of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 1/1-B, ≥4 grams <200 grams.
Rivera was processed on the charges and later released into the custody of the GEO Correctional Facility, pending the magistration process.
All persons arrested are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
