.

Southwest defeated Del Rio 3-1 in the Sept. 8 district opener. The Queens reversed that result in the rematch, winning 26-24, 25-22, 16-25, 25-22, according to results reported on MaxPreps.

Del Rio took the first two sets before Southwest extended the match with a third-set victory. The Queens closed out the fourth set to secure the win and end a four-match losing streak.

The Queens return home Tuesday, Oct. 6, to face Laredo LBJ at 7 p.m., opening another opportunity to avenge a first-round district loss. LBJ rallied from a two-set deficit to defeat Del Rio 3-2 in their September meeting.

Del Rio enters the match tied with Eagle Pass at 2-6 in district, one win behind LBJ, Southwest Legacy and Southwest, all tied for fourth at 3-5. A victory tonight would pull the Queens even with LBJ and put Del Rio back in the thick of the race for the fourth and final playoff spot with five district matches remaining.
