Press release from the Del Rio Police Department
On Oct. 14, 2026, at approximately 9:07 p.m., Del Rio Police Department officers responded to a hotel in the 2100 block of Veterans Boulevard after a concerned individual reported that several people might be held against their will inside a room.
Officers contacted the occupants of the identified room and conducted a welfare check. All appeared unharmed, and none reported being held against their will or requested police assistance. Officers cleared the scene and forwarded the information to the incoming morning shift for follow-up.
On the morning of Oct. 15, officers contacted the reporting party, who provided additional details that warranted further investigation. Del Rio Police Department officers, working with the Texas Department of Public Safety, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Homeland Security Investigations, returned to conduct a second welfare check.
Authorities located one adult male and two adult females in the initially identified room. Information developed during the investigation led authorities to a second room, where four adult males were located.
All seven individuals were confirmed to be unharmed and were subsequently taken into custody by federal authorities in connection with alleged immigration-related violations.
