Don’t let the Brackett Tigers’ overall record fool you. They’re right in the thick of the District 14-2A Division II playoff race.
Brackett defeated D’Hanis 40-26 Friday night, Oct. 23, giving the Tigers their second district victory and improving their district record to 2-2.
The Tigers (2-6 overall) turned in their highest-scoring performance of the season against a D’Hanis team that entered the contest with six victories.
Brackett has now scored 74 points in its last two games, including 34 in a loss to Harper on Oct. 9.
The victory also moved Brackett into third place in the district standings published by MaxPreps, a remarkable position for a team that opened the season with four consecutive losses.
The Tigers have two regular-season games remaining, both at home. They host La Pryor on Friday, Oct. 30, before closing the regular season against Center Point on Nov. 6.
Both games kick off at 7 p.m.
With the top four teams advancing to the playoffs, Brackett has an opportunity to control much of its postseason destiny over the final two weeks.
