After scoring 11 runs in their previous outing, the Queens’ side of the scoreboard stood quiet in their next game.
District-leading Laredo Alexander handcuffed Del Rio’s bats and shutout the Queens, 6-0, to stay unbeaten in district play. Del Rio falls to 2-2 in district.
Krista Gamez had the Queens off balance, allowing just three hits and one walk in the complete game performance. Del Rio was able to put the ball in play consistently, striking out only three times, but that action couldn’t put runs on the board.
The Queens’ next game will be at home where they’ve had a little more success scoring runs. On the road, Del Rio has been outscored 17-5 in two district losses while at home the Queens have scored 15 runs and are a perfect 2-0.
Del Rio returns to action Tuesday when they host the Laredo United South Lady Panthers at 5 p.m. at the Queens Softball Field. Tickets can be purchased online at https://www.vancoevents.com/us/eventlist/delrioathletics?embed=1
