Del Rio knows its next playoff opponent, and the game will be held in a stadium quite familiar to the Rams.

After dispatching San Antonio Stevens 5-2 Friday night, it was announced Saturday morning that the Del Rio Rams soccer team would take on the La Joya Juarez-Lincoln Huskies in the Class 6A, Region IV Area playoffs Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Student Activity Center in Laredo.

The SAC, as it is known, is home to schools from the Laredo United ISD and hosts both the Rams and Queens multiple times each season in District 30-6A contests.

Juarez-Lincoln advanced to the Area round after defeating the Donna North Chiefs 3-2 on the Huskies’ home field. According to the Progress Times, it was the Huskies’ first playoff win since 2018.

The Huskies took an early 2-0 lead against the Chiefs before North was able to rally to tie the match by halftime.

The eventual game-winner came from Roberto Morales who blasted a shot into the net from about 30 yards out 14 minutes into the second half.

Del Rio also needed to rally for its playoff win. The Rams were down 2-0 in the first half before scoring and cutting the deficit to 2-1 by halftime. Del Rio then exploded for four goals in the second half to finish with the 5-2 win. The result extended the Rams’ winning streak to seven.
