Comstock ISD is sending many of its student-athletes to the upcoming Class 1A, Region IV Track and Field Meet in San Angelo.

SPORTS — Comstock athletes earn spots at regionals

The Comstock High School Panthers boys and girls track teams competed in the District 10-1A Area Track meet Wednesday.

Of the four boys and seven girls who competed, all but one advanced to the Class 1A, Region IV meet in San Angelo April 23-24.

 

Boys results: 

 

Frederico (Freddy) Terrones competed in the 3,200-meter run where he placed second with a time of 11 minutes and 25 seconds. He also competed in the 1,600 meter run, picking up a third place finish in a time of 5 minutes, 18 seconds. 

 

Jaiden Sanchez placed third in pole vault with a vault of 11 feet, setting a new personal best. 

 

Matthew Sanchez advanced in two events at regionals. He placed fourth in high jump with a 5 foot, 6 inch jump. He will be advancing in the 110 meter hurdles, where he finished third in 16.89 seconds.

 

Brett Clark advanced to regionals in the 400-meter run where he finished fourth with a time of 55.86, a new personal best.

 

Girls: 

 

Emily Mila placed fourth in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 6:15.60 and will compete in regionals. 

 

Abigail (Abby) Doyle placed fifth in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 18.61 seconds.

 

The 4x400m relay team of Abby Doyle, Isela Chavez, Emily Mila and Andrea Lopez placed third with a time of 4:43.92, a personal record for the team. They will be advancing as a team, along with two alternates, Yaritza “Yari” Peña and Kate Fooshee, to regionals.

 

Andrea Lopez placed fifth with a time of 1 minute, 2 seconds in the 400-meter run. 

 

The 4×200 relay, consisting of Doyle, Mila, Peña and Fooshee, placed sixth with a time of 2:07.36.
