Del Rio City Manager Matt Wojnowski confirmed Wednesday he would be leaving as the city’s top administrator.
Wojnowski made the following statement after the 830 Times asked the city’s public information staff to confirm a report the city manager had accepted a management position in another Texas city.
Wojnowski made the following statement, “Yes, I have accepted the assistant city manager position with the city of Hutto, Texas.”
“It has been an honor to be the Del Rio city manager since February 2019. I am proud of the achievements and accomplishments of Del Rio city employees (TEAM DEL RIO), with the support of Mayor Lozano and our city council,” Wojnowski said in his emailed statement.
Wojnowski previously served as the assistant city manager for the city of Altus, Okla., from August 2015 until February 2019, when he came to Del Rio. Wojnowski has also held other city management positions in his more than two decades of public service.
Wojnowski survived an attempt to fire him in April, but the city council’s decision not to terminate his employment was divided, with three council members voting to fire the city manager and four voting not to fire him.
