Youth interested in learning from the Del Rio Rams football staff will get their chance beginning Monday.

The first Ram Summer Football Camp begins Monday evening at 6 p.m. at the Del Rio Middle School stadium located off US Highway 90 East. Known as the Rising Ram Summer Football Camp, this camp is intended for youth who will be attending third through sixth grade during the 2021-22 school year.

The cost of the camp is $20, but includes a camp T-shirt.

Camp attendees will learn football skills including safe tackling techniques, throwing, blocking, hand placement and catching.

The camp will run from Monday through Thursday.

A second Rising Ram Summer Football Camp is scheduled to begin Monday, Jan. 26 at 6 p.m., also at the Del Rio Middle School stadium.

This camp will be youth who will be attending seventh, eighth or ninth grade during the 2021-22 school year.

The fee for this camp is also $20, and participants will also receive a camp T-shirt.

The group in the camp for the older youth will learn many of the same techniques and skills as the younger campers.

In years past, the camps had been held at Walter Levermann Ram Stadium at Del Rio High School, but this year’s camps had to be moved to the middle school due to the ongoing replacement of the all-weather track at the stadium.
