Val Verde County Sheriff Joe Frank Martinez confirmed today his office is assisting in the investigation of a fatal airplane crash that occurred west of Del Rio sometime over the past weekend.
Martinez said the crash of the small private plane resulted in the death of one person, presumed to be the pilot.
Martinez told the 830 Times today VVSO deputies were dispatched to a ranch 27 miles west-northwest of Del Rio on Sunday after the owner of the ranch found the wrecked plane and called the sheriff’s office.
Martinez said the crash remains under investigation.
