Filing began Nov. 13 for 12 county elected positions and one state district judgeship that will be on the ballot of the March 2022 Republican Party Primary Election in Val Verde County.
The following positions will go before voters: 83rd Judicial District Judge, County Judge, County Court-At-Law Judge, District Clerk, County Clerk, County Treasurer, County Surveyor, County Commissioner Pct. 2, County Commission Pct. 4, Justice of the Peace Pct. 1, Justice of the Peace Pct. 2, Justice of the Peace Pct. 3 and Justice of the Peace Pct. 4.
Val Verde County voters will first vote in either the Democratic Party or the Republican Party Primary Election on March 1, 2022. The victors in each of those primary races will then go on the ballot for the November 2022 election.
Val Verde County Republican Party Chair Frank Lopez on Thursday told the 830 Times two candidates have already filed their applications for a place on the Republican Party Primary Election ballot.
Candidates for the state district judge position file their application directly with the state party.
Lopez released copies of two applications for places on the ballot for the March 2022 Republican Party Primary Election.
One of the candidates, Pat Cole, is seeking re-election to the position she currently holds, Justice of the Peace Pct. 3.
The second candidate who has filed as a candidate in the Republican Party Primary Election is Fabiola “Fabby” Aguilera.
Aguilera, who identifies herself as a student on her application, is seeking the position of District Clerk, a position currently held by Democrat Jo Ann Cervantes. Cervantes has filed for re-election to the position.
Filing for a place on the primary ballot ends Dec. 13, Lopez said.
He said prospective Republican candidates may contact him at (830) 719-2749 for more information.
