A pair of rematches didn’t go the Rams’ way this week.
Del Rio faced off against Harlandale and Judson this week. They faced both teams at the recent Harlandale tournament in San Antonio over the weekend.
The Rams lost a tough game to Harlandale, 80-76, and took a tough loss against Judson, 88-64.
Against Harlandale, it was a big second quarter that put the Rams in a 14-point hole at halftime. Del Rio had the advantage after the first quarter, but Harlandale exploded for 33 points in he second quarter to wipe out that deficit and surge ahead by double digits.
The Rams clawed their way back in the third quarter, scoring 18 points, before exploding for 26 points in the fourth quarter. But the first half deficit was too much for the Rams to overcome, leading Del Rio to a four-point loss.
J.J. Cervantes had a big game for Del Rio, scoring 20 points. It was his first 20-point game of the season. Nick Rivera led the Rams with 25 points including going 11-of-12 from the free throw line.
Joel Dominguez had 11 points, Alan Dobbins had nine points, William Proffit and Jorge Rubio each had four points, and Alessandro Elizondo had three points.
Against Judson, the Rams were down by single digits until the Rockets brook loose for 28 points in the third quarter. That turned a close game into a runaway for Judson.
By the end of the third, Del Rio was down 70-46. Both teams scored 18 points in the fourth quarter, leading to the 24-point loss by the Rams.
Four Rams scored in double digits led by Elizondo’s 14. Proffit had 13 points, and Dominguez and Cervantes each had 11 points. Rivera had eight points and Dobbins had seven points.
The Rams return to action on Tuesday, Nov. 30, when they travel to Schertz to face Clemens at 6:30 p.m.
Del Rio’s next home game will be Tuesday, Dec. 14, when the Rams host Carrizo Springs.
