Police are still investigating another “shots fired” call, Del Rio Police Department Capt. Robert Guzman said.

“Our primary focus is the safety of everybody involved, the safety of our community,” Guzman told the 830 Times Wednesday.

Guzman said police received several calls Monday evening about shots being fired in the 300 block of East Third Street. No one was injured, and Guzman said an investigation into the incident is ongoing by the police department’s criminal investigations division.

“I’m speaking on behalf of the chief and the department, but also all of our law enforcement community in Del Rio, we see these types of issues, and we are concerned because we want to make sure everyone’s safe. We want to let people know that if they see something, they should say something,” Guzman said.

In late October, the city issued a press release detailing four other calls the police department had received Oct. 24 and Oct. 25 reporting shots fired in various areas of the city.

The first report came in at 2:29 a.m. on Oct. 24 when police were called to the area near the 300 block of San Felipe Street after a caller heard a single shot. Responding officers said no suspects could be located, no one was injured and no property was damaged.

The second report was made to police at 2:43 a.m. on Oct. 24. Officers responded to an area near the intersection of Teresa and Las Vacas streets after a caller reported hearing five to six rounds fired there. Police said no suspects were located, no one was injured and no property was damaged.

The third call was made at 11:52 p.m. on Oct. 24. Police responded to the 200 block of South Griner Street, where a caller told police two vehicles had been involved in an incident. Officers recovered four casings at the scene, but no one was injured and no damage was reported.

The fourth call came to police at 12:19 a.m. on Oct. 25, less than 30 minutes after the third call. Officers were called to the 3900 block of U.S. Highway 90 East, but when they arrived, no suspects were found, no one had been injured and no property was damaged. Police reported they collected evidence at the scene.

Guzman said all of the “shots fired” incidents remain under investigation.
