Del Rio’s tough non-district schedule should help the Rams once district rolls around, but it doesn’t make the outcomes now any easier.

The Rams were back on the road Tuesday as they traveled to Schertz to face off against the Samuel Clemens Buffaloes. Del Rio dropped the road contest, 81-71.

The first half was a back-and-forth contest as the two teams battled through the first and second quarters. Del Rio led 21-16 after the first quarter, but was outscored 23-17 in the second quarter to be down by one, 39-38, at halftime.

Clemens began pulling away in the third, outscoring the Rams 17-10 before finishing the game off with a 23-point quarter in the fourth. Del Rio gave everything they had, scoring 21 in the final frame, but it wasn’t enough.

Nick Rivera had another big game for the Rams, leading the team with 28 points. William Proffit had 11 points and J.J. Cervantes had 10 points. Alan Dobbins had seven points, Alessandro Elizondo had five points, and Joel Dominguez and Manuel Rodriguez each had three points.

The Rams are in San Angelo this weekend for the Doug McCutchen Tournament. Fans can watch games from the tournament via live stream through YouTube.com. Just search for SA Central Hoops and you can find the games there. The Rams were scheduled to play El Paso Eastwood Thursday.
