NEWS — Burglaries and criminal mischief dot the blotter

The following incidents were among those reported recently to the Del Rio Police Department:

 

Vehicle Burglary

DRPD Officer David Lopez was dispatched to a residence in the 100 block of East Cortinas Street at 3:31 p.m. Nov. 28 after police received a call about a vehicle burglary. When he arrived, Jesus Ruiz reported someone had entered his 2019 Chevrolet Silverado pickup without permission and stole his wallet, valued at $50 and containing various pieces of identifying information; a gold-colored necklace valued at $450 and a G-Shock watch valued at $150. Ruiz told police he believed the burglary occurred between 10 p.m. on Nov. 26 and 1 p.m. on Nov. 28.

 

Home Burglary

DRPD Senior Officer Elijah Sandoval was dispatched to Del Rio Budget Hotel & Studio, 3806 Veterans Blvd., at 7:35 p.m. Nov. 26 after police received a report about a burglary. When he arrived, he spoke with Virginia Schillick, who reported she noticed the front door to her apartment open after she returned home. Schillick said when she entered the residence, she noticed several items were out of place and reported someone stole a bottle of prescription medication valued at $60. Schillick told police she believed the burglary occurred between 6 p.m. on Nov. 21 and 6 p.m. on Nov. 26.

 

Criminal Mischief

DRPD Officer Christopher Lauritzen was dispatched to a location near the intersection of Fifth and North Main Streets at 10:53 p.m. Nov. 25 after police received a call about a burglary. The caller advised police he was following a vehicle he believed contained suspects in the incident. When the officer arrived, he spoke with Jesus Ramirez, a resident of the 400 block of Jap Lowe Drive. Ramirez reported when he arrived home, he found that someone had been on his property and driven his golf cart into a brush pile, causing an estimated $150 damage to the golf cart’s front right tire. The officer reported he spoke to the occupants of the vehicle Ramirez had been following. He said they were juveniles who claimed to have been in the area of Ramirez’s home dropping off a friend. No one was arrested, Lauritzen reported.
