Del Rio let the offense run wild in a much-needed win against Uvalde Tuesday night.
Three Rams scored in double digits as Del Rio picked up a 90-58 win over the Coyotes on the road Tuesday.
With the win, the Rams improve to 5-8 ahead of a trip to Ft. Stockton Thursday to take part in the West Texas Shootout.
Both teams came out ready to light up the scoreboard, combing for 41 points in the first quarter. But it was Del Rio that grabbed the early lead as they posted 24 points behind a pair of Will Proffit 3-pointers.
Uvalde outscored the Rams in the second quarter to trim the lead to 39-34 by halftime, but Del Rio was just getting warmed up.
The Rams outscored Uvalde 30-12 in the third thanks in large part to senior Nick Rivera. Rivera, who came into the game averaging nearly 19 points per contest, exploded for 18 in the third quarter alone.
Del Rio closed the game out with 21 points in the fourth quarter.
Rivera finished with 26 points on 11-of-17 shooting. He also had three assists and six steals, tied for the team high with Alessandro Elizondo.
Alan Dobbins scored 14, and Proffit finished with 13 points. Joel Dominguez, Jorge Rubio and J.J. Cervantez each scored eight points, Jairo Venegas had six points, and Elizondo and Damien Espinoza each scored four points.
Del Rio is one of eight teams scheduled to compete in the West Texas Shootout. They join Kermit, Midland Trinity, Midessa, Fort Stockton, Presidio, Pebble Hills and Lubbock Estacado.
