It took an extra day of waiting, but the start of the boys soccer district schedule was worth the delay for Del Rio.
The Rams defeated the Laredo LBJ Wolves, 4-2, Saturday to open play in District 30-6A.
Antonio Rodriguez, Robert Garcia, Ely Losoya and Roberto Garza each had a goal for the Rams. Garza also had an assist on Garcia’s goal.
The game was initially to be played Friday, but concerns regarding the weather pushed it back to Saturday afternoon at Walter Levermann Ram Stadium.
In other 30-6A boys soccer matches this weekend, Laredo United shutout Eagle Pass, 3-0; and Laredo United South blanked Laredo Nixon, 2-0. Laredo Alexander did not play this weekend.
Del Rio travels to Laredo Tuesday to face Laredo United at 7:30 p.m.
The Rams’ next home game will be Friday, Feb. 11, when they host Laredo Nixon at 6:30 p.m. at Walter Levermann Ram Stadium.
