The following reports were among those reported recently to the Del Rio Police Department:

Burglary of a Vehicle

DRPD Officer Christopher Lauritzen was dispatched to a residence in the 100 block of Joe Rice Drive at 9:20 p.m. on Feb. 8 after police received a report of a vehicle burglary. When the officer arrived, he spoke to Mayra Garcia, who said she had approached her vehicle, a beige 1994 Buick, and found a red screwdriver that does not belong to her on the front passenger seat. She also said the center console of the vehicle appeared to have been ransacked. Nothing appeared to have been stolen from the vehicle, but Garcia said the vehicle was illegally entered sometime between 9:15 p.m. and 9:20 p.m. on Feb. 8 while it was parked outside her residence.

DRPD Senior Officer Alex Serrano was dispatched to an alley behind the La Villita Shopping Center, 2400 Veterans Blvd., at 1:29 p.m. on Feb. 9 after police received a call about a burglarized vehicle. When he arrived, the officer spoke with Jose Ruben Niño, who told the officer he was working as a roofer in the area and had parked his vehicle, a 2011 Ford F250 pickup, behind the business where he was working, about 10 a.m. Niño said he had left the vehicle unsecured while he was working in the area. He said he returned to his vehicle at noon and found the driver’s side door open. Niño reported his black leather wallet containing $94 in U.S. currency and social security and identification cards was stolen.

Burglary of a Habitation

DRPD Officer Rolando Fernandez was dispatched to a residence in the 700 block of Las Vacas Street at 5:40 p.m. on Feb. 9 after police received a call about a burglarized residence. When the officer arrived, he spoke with Rolane Vargas, the resident, who reported someone entered her home without her permission, and stole a 65-inch LG television valued at $1,151.99. Vargas told the officer she believed the burglary occurred between 10:55 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Feb. 9.

Burglary of a Building

DRPD Officer Homer Perez was dispatched to the Minits convenience store, 620 Las Vacas St., at 3:21 a.m. on Feb. 10 after police received a call about a burglar alarm going off. While responding to the call, DRPD communications received a 9-1-1 call reporting that a man was seen running from the business. When officers arrived, they noticed the front door of the business had been broken, causing an estimated $900 in damage, and called the store manager. The manager also told police a variety of tobacco products had been stolen from the store.
