City of Del Rio press release
Del Rio, Texas – On Monday March 28, 2022, the Del Rio International Airport received confirmation from American Airlines of a newer, larger airplane that will service DRT beginning June 3, 2022. The CRJ-700 aircraft replaces the ERJ-145. The upgraded aircraft sports 15-26 more seats, 3 class types, Wi-Fi services and a flap down for a personal device on the seats.
“Having a larger airplane will increase our passenger count and is a good measurement of how well our relationship with American Airli
nes is,” said Juan C. Onofre, Airport Manager. “At the end of the day, the ones who will benefit the most will be the passengers by having more choices of seating classes and access in flight to wi-fi and entertainment on their own devices.”
The City of Del Rio is excited for the growing opportunities for the Del Rio International Airport (FlyDRT). The airport is also currently weighing the options of a new entrance sign and landscaping designs. “We certainly look forward to sharing the final designs based on the feedback of the Inte
rnational Airport Commission, City staff, and City Council,” said City Manager, John Sheedy.
