Clifton Castle, born in Eagle Pass and raised in Del Rio, had his song Unbreakable Walls selected as one of 21 on Lubbock Music NOW.
Castle, now married, father of two and a salesman in the agriculture industry for the United States moved to Lubbock several years ago. He lives in Lubbock because it’s more geographically suited to his sales area.
The road to being featured on the album began in April when he submitted an original, studio-produced songs for consideration.
Castle found out Friday Aug. 28 that his song had been selected for the compilation.
“I felt honored to even be in the same category with these guys who were selected,” Castle said. “Especially being my first professionally-recorded song.”
However, Castle said although he enjoys making music, it’s not one of his top priorities. “I’m just doing this for fun,” he said. “That’s a nice thing about having a real good paying job and able to do this as a hobby,” he said. “I’m just really fortunate to have such great musicians in Lubbock to help put the songs together.”
Now he is combining two of his top priorities, family and music. “What’s more exciting than anything is that my daughter Kyla is turning out to be an amazing musician,” he said. She’s 12-years-old and wowing everybody right now. My main focus is to work with her and do the best I can go get her what she wants to be.”
