The 830 Times
Del Rio voters today will pick a new mayor and a new District I representative on the Del Rio City Council.
Voters will select either retired Border Patrol supervisor and small business owner Virgil Armstrong or former city councilman and businessman Al Arreola Sr. as the city’s new mayor.
Voters in District I will also pick either Mario Bosquez or Jesus Lopez Jr. as the new council representative for that district.
Three polling locations will open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. today.
The three polling locations will be as follows:
- Joe Ramos Center, 1105 W. De La Rosa St., for city voters in county election precincts 10A, 11, 12, 21 and 22B.
- Del Rio Civic Center, 1915 Veterans Blvd., for city voters in county election precincts 22A, 30A and 31.
- City Hall, 109 W. Broadway St., for city voters in county election precincts 10B, 30B and 40.
Results of the election will be announced by Val Verde County Clerk Generosa “Janie” Ramon, who has been contracted to serve as the administrator for the city election, as soon as they are available and will be posted on the front door of the county courthouse, 400 Pecan St.
Results will also be posted as soon as they are announced on the 830 Times Facebook page.
Ramon told the 830 Times Friday a total of 1,558 registered city voters cast early ballots in person in the runoff election. She said the information about the total number of mail ballots sent out is not made publically available until after Election Day, but noted in a previous election, she sent out 314 mail ballots.
A representative for the county voter registrar’s office said Friday there are a total of 20,546 registered voters eligible to cast ballots in the city election.
