Val Verde County Sheriff’s Office investigators are seeking help from the public for additional information about the murder of a Cienegas Terrace woman earlier this week.
Mirosalva Martinez, 48, was shot twice at her residence Monday morning and later died as a result of those injuries after being transported to the emergency room at Val Verde Regional Medical Center.
No one has yet been arrested in connection with the murder.
“We are asking members of the public to come forward with any and all information they might have in reference to this woman’s murder,” VVSO Lt. Gina Garcia, who heads the sheriff’s office criminal investigations division, told the 830 Times Thursday.
“We want to get the message out that our investigators are working very hard, following multiple leads, and we are also looking for anybody having any information or knowledge in reference to this incident,” Val Verde County Sheriff Joe Frank Martinez added.
Martinez said investigators with multiple agencies are assisting with the case.
The sheriff’s office received a 9-1-1 call at 8:47 a.m. Monday about “shots fired” at 142 Fir Street in the county’s Cienegas Terrace neighborhood, just west of the Del Rio city limits.
VVSO Chief Deputy Waylon Bullard said earlier this week when deputies arrived at the residence, they found Martinez and administered first aid. An ambulance transported Martinez to the hospital, where she died.
Anyone with any information for the sheriff’s office is asked to call (830) 774-7513, extension 1130. If no one answers, please leave a message.
