A 21-year-old Dallas man has been arrested and charged with felony possession of child pornography after officers found nude videos and photos of his 16-year-old girlfriend on his phone.
Asbel Renteria, a resident of Dallas, was arrested at 12:58 a.m. on June 16 at the Del Rio Port of Entry and charged with the offense of possession of child pornography, a third-degree felony, according to police and court records.
In an affidavit on file in the case, Del Rio Police Department Officer Michael Cummings reported Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) special agents were dispatched to the Del Rio Port of Entry to interview Renteria “regarding his involvement in human smuggling activity.”
“Prior to speaking with Renteria, special agents conducted a border search of Renteria’s cellular phone and discovered several images and videos of Renteria engaging in sexual conduct with an unknown female. Records checks indicated Renteria and (a girl identified with the pseudonym of) J.L. were traveling in the same vehicle when they applied for admission into the United States through the Del Rio Port of Entry,” Cummings wrote.
He noted J.L. is 16 years of age.
Cummings wrote HSI special agents interviewed Renteria “to gather information regarding human smuggling activity” and said Renteria agreed to speak with the agents.
“(Renteria) identified J.L. as his girlfriend. Renteria stated J.L. was 16 years old, pregnant, and they were returning home to Dallas,” Cummings wrote.
He noted when HSI special agents examined Renteria’s phone, they found videos depicting J.L. performing oral sex on Renteria, as well as a video of Renteria kissing the girl’s exposed breasts. The agents also said they found several photos of J.L. “exposing her bare breasts in a lewd manner.”
Cummings reported when HSI special agents asked Renteria about the video, he admitted J.L. had filmed herself having oral sex with him. He also acknowledged he was the person kissing the girl’s exposed breasts.
Renteria was arrested and charged with felony possession of child pornography and taken to the Del Rio police station for processing.
Justice of the Peace Pct. 4 Hilda Lopez set a bond of $4,000 in the case.
