The Del Rio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is rolling out the red carpet for New Year’s Eve, with a gala slotted for the Del Rio Civic Center kicking off at 7 p.m. Dec. 31.
The entertainment will feature Juan Nanez’s 11-person Nightlife Orchestra. Nanez is known locally as “The Sax Man” and performs regionally with different groups but has led the Nightlife Orchestra since 2003.
Nanez said the performance is based on Tejano music and the group will perform a variety of styles during their session.
Nightlife Orchestra has released 3 CDs, the most recent named The Final Chapter. The band has a 5-piece horn section with trumpets, trombone, sax plus rhythm and vocals sections.
The band has members from throughout the region, as well as 5 local members.
“It’s a full-blown Tejano band,” Nanez said.
In addition to live music, the evening will offer Julio’s chips and guests are encouraged to bring their own adult beverages and food.
“We want to provide a safe environment for everyone to bring in 2023,” said Isidro Valdez-Fernandez, DRHCC president. “However, everyone has unique desires for what makes the event special, so we just want everyone to bring their favorite food or drink and have a great time.”
Concessions will be available for water and non-alcoholic beverages.
Tickets are $50 per person, $100 per couple or $400 for a table of eight.
Proceeds from the event will support the DRHCC’s scholarship fund.
