Women were celebrated and honored during the day-long 16th Annual International Women’s Conference at the Civic Center March 9.
This conference was held thanks to the coordinated work between the City of Del Rio, the Mexican consulate and Guatemalan consulates, the Trinational Health Council, BCFS Health and Human Services and Teen Ambassadors of HOPE, all to empower the women so they can achieve success and have the tools that will help them achieve their goals, said Claudia Cruz Lopez, one of the event’s organizers.
Through a video, the Mexican consul Paloma Villaseñor welcomed all the attendees to the conference and thanked the organizers for all the work they did to bring this free event, as well as the Guatemalan Consul Randy Castillo who congratulated the women for taking the time and attending the event.
Some of the special guests were Corporal Dulce González from the Del Rio Police Department and Suzy Ayarza, creator of Inclusive Minds. The two spoke about their experiences achieving the success they currently have and motivated women to continue fighting to achieve their goals.
Another of the special guests was Sonia Moreno from the office of State Representative Eddie Morales who presented each of the women who participated a momento.
To end the day, Councilwoman Ernestina Tina Martínez accompanied by Councilman Jesús “Jesse” López delivered the “Del Rio’s Woman’s History Month” proclamation from the City of Del Rio.
