The Del Rio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce handed out their annual awards Wednesday morning in the Ramada Inn’s Grand Ballroom.
Members received a free breakfast, thanks to Gilbert Mercado’s Money Concepts Wealth Management and Financial Planning, the event’s sponsor.
The Business Woman of the Year honors went to Teresita D. Robledo, owner of Amistad Tax Services.
Business Man of the Year went to Juan Carlos Vasquez, who owns Del Rio Towing and Wrecker and serves as a county commissioner.
Entrepreneur of the Year went to Garbriela Mendez, who owns The Body Factory.
The Small Business of the Year was awarded to Giam Taekwondo Academy.
The Border Federal Credit Union was named the Large Business of the Year.
Silvia Owens was named the Hispanic Chamber’s Advocate of the Year.
The Legacy Award went to former mayor Dora Alcala, who helped found the Hispanic Chamber.
Casa De La Cultura was named the Non-Profit of the Year.
Claudia Lopez, who spearheads numerous projects in the community, received the Public Service Award.
Rising Star of the Year honors went to Maricela Saenz, who manages Plaza Del Sol Mall.
